Projects!

Through out my journey, I have gotten an opportunity to get myself published in research papers, blogs, assessments and policy papers. Hope you enjoy it as much as, I enjoyed working on them. Feel free to reach out and discuss any of the projects I have worked on or if you would like me to work with you on any projects!

While working with the Climate Centre for Cities, the team got the responsibility of revising the NMSH under the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), under the Government of India. The team worked on making sure, that all the different thematic areas were included as well as it also focus on the cross-cutting strategies which would help in enabling climate actions in urban habitat.

As a part of the Climate Centre for Cities, I got an opportunity to contribute to the "Promoting Adaptation in Urban Design, Energy and Material Efficiency in Buildings and Sustainable Urbanization" section in the Strategic Transitions Chapter. It was exhilarating to witness its launch at COP27 in Sharm-el-Sheikh, Egypt.

Jamnagar is a vibrant coastal city with Khijadiya bird sanctuary and Marine National Park on its north. The city faces the risk of Urban Floods and Storm Surges. With a large number of Oil, Brass and Textile industries present in the area, the city faces a significant risk to the freshwater supply. We promoted bringing back ponds and lakes across the city to develop it as a sponge city, just like how the King of Jamnagar promoted the development of lakes to conserve water.

Junagadh city is very rich in its biodiversity and cultural heritage. It is a major tourist attraction because of the Girnar Temple and Asiatic Lions in Gir forest. The city witnessed massive flash floods because of its topography in 2023. We developed solutions which would help cater to the city's tourist demands while considering its climate-sensitive planning.

Leh City is located at an elevation of 3200 to 4000 m above sea level. The city is economically highly dependent on tourism activities. It witnessed a cloud burst in 2021 and is at high risk from Glacial Lake Outburst Floods. We developed solutions to reduce its emissions from transport, waste and energy demands and recommended solutions for flash floods and water management.

Nine-month long research with the Climate Centre for Cities culminated in one of the first reports in India focusing on Cities and their preparedness for Climate Change. The report mapped 126 cities, which impacted more than 140 million citizens in India directly.

I specifically contributed to the Energy and Green Building Thematic Area in the report and developed social media campaigns around the report.

Our team of four worked on solving a policy issue in our fellowship project. We worked to solve two major ecosystem problems:

1) The near absence of a dedicated ecosystem for growing and sustaining innovation and ineffective collaborative governance regime in cities.

2) There is no existing framework to test the formalisation of open innovation as a means to solve urban challenges.

I compiled my thoughts from hosting the season 1 of Understanding the Future podcast on what future holds for us. Check it out in the blog I wrote for the Climate Centre for Cities.

Title: Integrating renewable energy forecasting with Home Energy Management System and developing it with the bottom-up approach.
